Koffin Kats Background Info
With over Nine years of touring internationally and 1200+ shows, the Detroit based Koffin Kats new home is on the road. This trio kicked it off in June of 2003 with the mission to not stop for anything. Vic Victor (Lead Vocal, Upright Bass) would join forces with long time friend Tommy Koffin (Guitar) and start laying the ground work for the sonic assault known as The Koffin Kats.
The Koffin Kats play some seriously high-octane music very similar to that of The HorrorPops – A brilliant mix of Psychobilly and Punk with a hint of Rock. And as I stop and think about it, how awesome would a show featuring both The HorrorPops and Koffin Kats be? The show would have to be done outdoors, because no building could contain them.
For some reason when I listen to the Koffin Kats I feel like I know them – which I don’t. I assume that feeling comes from the fact that I hear a lot of similarities between the Koffin Kats and Tsunami Bomb. Both bands have a ton of energy in their music, both make excellent use of vocal harmony, and both bands’ music emits a “screw you” attitude, which is fun. But the Koffin Kats tend to kick it up a notch with crazy awesome guitar solos and, of course, a little bit of Psycho.
With over 9 years of touring internationally, the Koffin Kats have certainly used that time well to perfect their craft and create some amazing music that is like a pure shot of adrenaline straight to your heart. If you think your heart is strong enough, I highly suggest you check out For Blood and Drunk in the Daylight for starters, as those were my favorite songs. And remember kids, upright bass is the best way to play bass!
