Reign of Lies Background Info
“Channeling their inner rage and bringing grit and groove back to the metal scene, Reign of Lies is revitalizing the genre, sticking to their root, and playing with a fearless conviction that is lacking in many of today’s bands.
In the summer of 2012, Reign of Lies began recording their debut album “The New Empire” mixed by Lee Wanner and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studio (Opeth, Soilwork, Amon Amarth…) which will be released the 13th of June 2013 under the label Keetch Music. They are also endorsed by the globally renowned clothing company “Keetch” who also endorse bands such as Meshuggah, Unearth, PDP, and Fear Factory.”
Wow! Just listening to Reign of Lies leaves me gasping for breath, I can’t imagine what it must feel like to actually play the music. Violently beautiful, methodically chaotic, Reign of Lies is a fury of melody, Metal and Groove. A full out assault on the senses, Reign on Lies is as much a treat for the ears as they are for the eyes. Watching a group of people so dedicated to their music and so amazingly talented with their instruments is an encouraging sign for the music world.
Add to the above the dedication and interaction with their fans and Reign of Lies is forcing the music world to pay close attention. Perhaps the key to longevity in the life of music is having fun and genuinely enjoying what you’re doing. If Rein of Lies’ videos of live performances and Facebook page are any indication, this band will be around for a good, long while.
Reing of Lies isn’t your typical Metal band. Anybody can grab a guitar, tune it down and scream. What Rein of Lies does is well beyond the traditional scope of Metal music. This is a band whose music is built on intricacies and tedious presentation. Rhythm, melody, and harmony are the building blocks of Reign of Lies’ music, so it should be no surprise my favorite song off their latest album, “The New Empire”, was White Noise.
Reign of Lies currently has a Kickstarter campaign under way to help them not only create a music video for White Noise, but also to help ensure Reign of Lies the ability to tour, promote and acquire the proper equipment to make their video (have we mentioned how much we love Kickstarter and sites like it?). White Noise is the perfect example of what all Reign of Lies has to offer. The very first 8 seconds or so gave me chills, as for a few fleeting seconds, it made me think of The Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black intro. White Noise has drumming at break-neck speeds, meticulous guitar work, and passionate and primal vocals.
If you fancy yourself a fan of Metal and you haven’t heard of Reign of Lies yet, then you can’t really call yourself a Metal fan. Do yourself a favor and give them a listen below via Bandcamp. After you have caught your breath, be sure to share them with your friends and if you have a few spare bucks, maybe contribute to their Kickstarter Campaign. As always, enjoy!
