MarsBands’ Review

Warpaint has an incredibly deep, rich, and unique sound.  They have garnered the labels “Experimental” and “Art Rock”, and for good reason.  Warpaint is one of those bands who isn’t afraid to try something new.  Their music is an outside the box type of creation which has no limits or bounds.  Although I’m not a huge fan of labels, I would consider much of their music Psychedelic.

At first listen, you’ll notice their songs tend to have a rather sedated pace to them.  Immediately you get the feeling of everything slowing down.  Listening to a Warpaint song is like listening to somebody’s master plan.  You don’t quite understand what is happening at first, but by the end of it you are totally in sync with it.

Warpaint tends to use echos and reverb to a great extent in their songs.  And while for some bands and their music echos and reverb can be distracting to the listener, with Warpaint it is an extra dimension to their music that makes them and their songs that much more dynamic.  They don’t necessarily use the echos and reverb to accentuate the music so much as they use it to make the music.  It’s a fine line between good and bad when using echos and reverb, a fine line which Warpaint walks with the utmost grace.

MarsBands.com loves the feeling that Warpaint’s music gives off.  We highly recommend that you check them out.
