Acappella Week, Day 3
The Rundown: The Deltones, formed at the University of Delaware in 1991, are another amazing Acappella group who appeared on The Singoff in 2011. Making it onto the show is a massive accomplishment all by itself, but this group was able to make it to the top 10 and, arguably, should have gone farther. They are super friendly people with a great sense of humor.
The Deltones are currently composed of these amazing singers:
Alex Bliziotis, Alyssa DiNardo, Andrea O’Neill, Benjamin Lefler, Brandon Kronstat, Chaz Hing, Emily Pollock, Erica Schetter, Jacob Lefler, Jasmine Plantt, Katie Geiger, Laura Nikolich, Nicole Scambia, Tim Gilpatrick, and Walter Pendleton.
I will confess my secret love right now. I enjoy me a little Paramore now and then. So when I saw the Deltones’ version of “That’s What You Get”, I was hooked. I’m not sure how other Acappella groups do it, but the Deltones have each person in the group pick a song they want to do a solo in and the rest of the group accompanies them. That way you get to see how amazing each singer really is. That’s pretty awesome stuff.
The Deltones are also a bunch of do-gooders. They held a benefit concert and were able to raise enough money to build a school for kids in Africa. Ya. A school. How many schools have you funded?
The Deltones also do their version of KT Tunstall’s Black Horse and a Cherry Tree, which is uber awesome. You should also check out their Singoff audition video so you can hear some awesome music as well as get to know the group. The Deltones have a ton of videos on YouTube, so be sure to check out their YouTube page as well. MarsBands.com guarantees you will enjoy the Deltones or we’ll refund your money + shipping!
